Hi, I'm Melissa Lunardon And today I wanted to share with you my top three tips for designing a kitchen. Storage is absolutely key. And when you're cooking, think about the items that you have around you and making sure they're an easy access. So plan your cabinetry around those areas. The next thing in storage is instead of cupboards, think about using drawers as it's a great way to access behind all those items that you can hardly reach when you do have cabinetry doors.
Melissa Lunardon:
The next thing is think about practical finishes. Even though marble bench tops are really huge at the moment, they are quite hard to keep clean as it is a porous material. Think about reconstituted stone or even porcelain products, as they are pretty much indestructible and have a great realistic marble or concrete finish. And are easy to keep clean.
Melissa Lunardon:
Also look out for kitchen splash back finishes, glass and mirror are really hard to keep clean as you can see those white marks when you finished cleaning. So maybe introduce a bit of color and pattern with an amazing tile. Not only is it a great way to impact a bit of color and a bit of fun, but also choose a [inaudible 00:01:14] that's darker so it's easy to keep clean.
Melissa Lunardon:
And the last thing is power points. With the rise in small appliances, such a coffee machines, Thermomixers, kettles and toasters. We want to keep these away when not in use. But also when we do have them, making sure you have enough power points. And also opt for double power points too when necessary.
Melissa Lunardon:
I hope these little tips have helped you when designing your kitchen. And if you have any questions at all, feel free to send me an email or comment below as I would love to help you out. Thanks for tuning in. Bye.
